Bahariya Oasis: It is located in the western desert of Egypt, in the center of the country, about 420 km from Cairo and is surrounded by mountains and important water sources that give life to the oasis. With an important history and vestiges that will impact you, you can find ruins and tombs that testify to the passage of Alexander the Great through this place.
Bahariya has experienced a major tourist boom thanks to the relatively recent discovery of the Valley of the Golden Mummies. In addition, it is an unbeatable base for other excursions in the area, such as the White Desert, the Black Desert or the Crystal Mountains.
Dakhla Oasis: It is the southernmost oasis in Egypt. It is located between the farthest oases from Cairo and Luxor. In its surroundings there are small towns, with vestiges of the pharaonic era and medieval times. You’ll know when you’ve arrived because many of the farmers are wearing straw hats. Dakhla is considered one of the oldest inhabited places in Africa, well actually Mut, its largest city. Mut, which means mother in ancient Egyptian, is actually the mother of dwellings, of inhabited places. Houses from 13,000 years ago have been unearthed here according to carbon tests.
Kharga Oasis: it is the largest of Egypt’s oases in the Western Desert, with important vestiges from the Greco-Roman and Christian era. The archaeological sites of the oasis are rich in fortress ruins, as it was a crossroads and a station for caravans coming and going from Nubia and Africa. In addition to the places worth seeing in El Kharga are the Temple of Hibis and the Temple and Amenebi.
Furthermore, the oasis is blessed with some sulfuric water springs that are generally visited by people suffering from rheumatic ailments to be cured there. Since the city enjoys almost every aspect of modernity, it hardly appears as a true oasis.
Farafra Oasis: it is one of the most spectacular and important oases for tourists visiting Egypt. It is located in the heart of the Western Desert, about 300 km in a straight line from the Nile Valley, it is known as Ta-Iht or the Land of the Cow in Pharaonic times.
One of the main attractions of the Farafra oasis are the 4×4 safaris to places of surprising beauty in the desert. Specifically, to the Black Desert, the White Desert and the Crystal Mountain. All of them are located north of this oasis, on the road that leads to the Bahariya oasis.
If you move around Qasr Al Farafra, you can come into contact with different hot springs and small bodies of water, which serve as entertainment for the local population. They are Bir Sitta, Ain Bishay and Lake Abu Nuss.
