SIWA OASIS: The mysterious oasis of Siwa is located on the edge of the Great Sand Sea. More than 300 wells and springs support life in this remote oasis, which has more than 300,000 palm trees and 70,000 olive trees. Huge saltwater lakes add to the scenery to make it spectacular. On the limits of the Great Sand Sea, isolated, the oasis of Siwa spent many centuries unchanged, receiving hardly any outside visitors.
Today, Siwa is linked by road to Marsa Matrouh on the Mediterranean and to the Bahariya oasis to the southeast, allowing visitors to come to marvel at the oasis landscapes and the hospitality of its people. The city becomes one of the most peaceful and fascinating destinations in the country.
In Siwa you can visit the ruins of the ancient mud-brick city of Shali, the Mountain of the Dead, the Tomb of Si-Amun, Cleopatra’s Pool, the Temple of Amun and much more.
