THE FOOTPRINTS OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT

First part of the morning, breakfast and the visits begin with the visit of the PYRAMIDS OF THE GUIZA PLATEAU: KHUFU, KHAFRE and MENKAURE, the only wonders of Antiquity that are still standing. The pyramids of Giza occupy a prominent place in the list of the greatest tourist attractions on the planet. 

We also visit the CELEBRE SPHINX AND ITS SOLAR TEMPLE. The enigmatic sphinx has a height of about 20 meters and a little over 70 meters in length, it is endowed with a human head and a lion’s body, for the ancient Egyptians it refers to the unit of the intelligence and strength in the same figure.

Later, transfer to visit SAQQARA, one of the most fascinating historical and archaeological areas in all of Egypt. The site is dominated by the famous Step Pyramid of King Djoser, considered the world’s first pyramid and the oldest large stone structure.

In addition, in Saqqara we visit other small pyramids such as the funerary complex of UNAS AND THE PYRAMID OF TETI, along with the tombs of some prestigious nobles and rulers that almost reach the level of the Kagemny.

Our last stop of the day will be to MEMPHIS, the ancient and first capital of Upper and Lower Egypt. The city was founded by Narmer, the first pharaoh of Egypt.

First part of the morning, breakfast and transfer to enjoy the city of Alexandria (THE PEARL OF THE MEDITERRANEAN). The city of Alexandria is about 220 km from Cairo.

Arrival and visit THE CATACOMBS OF KOM EL SHOQAFA, Roman-era tombs with three underground levels, constitute one of the most important historical attractions in Alexandria and one of the most visited by tourists visiting Egypt. These Roman-style catacombs are wonderful examples of the influence of Ancient Egyptian art on Roman art.

Then, visit the POMPEY’S PILLAR, it is one of the most outstanding tourist places in the city of Alexandria, which consists of a large granite column dating from Roman times. This column is part of the ruins of a huge Roman complex that was located in Alexandria hundreds of years ago.

Also, visit the ROMAN THEATER, it is located in the Kom el-Deka. It is one of the most recent discoveries in Alexandria. The two sides of the amphitheater were made of steps and its roof was covered by a dome that completely disappeared.

After, visit the famous LIBRARY OF ALEXANDRIA, it is an important library and cultural center. Built in commemoration of the largest library of Antiquity and was inaugurated in 2002.

Our last stop of the day will be to visit the CITADEL OF QAITBEY, built in 1480, it is considered one of the most important defensive fortresses, not only in Egypt but also along the Mediterranean coast. It was an important part of the fortifications of Alexandria in the 15th century AD.

In the morning, breakfast and early departure to the Oasis of Siwa, which preserves a unique beauty and history in the world. Siwa is located in the middle of the desert near the border with Libya. Its history is millennial.

On the way we passed through the CITY OF EL ALAMEIN, where two important battles took place during World War II.

We will visit the MILITARY MUSEUM, inaugurated in 1965, which describes these battles and offers a collection of weapons, tanks and ammunition of the troops of World War II. The museum consists of five rooms and a main lobby.

Upon arrival in Siwa, we will visit THE CITADEL OF SHALI, it means the city in Spanish, it is considered one of the most fascinating places in Siwa. It was built about a thousand years ago from a mixture of salt and mud called (kershef), a material used by locals to isolate their homes from the extreme temperatures of the desert. It was carefully designed to be a very strong fortress, since it was advanced next to the narrow streets, huge walls and small doors, all to make sure that the city is safe and ready for any attack.

Transfer to visit the TEMPLE OF ORACLE is the most famous temple dedicated to Amon is located in a lost town of the Oasis, where Alexander the Great went directly when he arrived in Egypt for the first time. The temple built on a rock and has the ruins of an old mosque, a path leads to the upper area of the rock, where you can see the temple, a facade leads to two rooms that end with the sanctuary. Next to and around the sanctuary there are small niches that probably served as the place where priests spelled the prophecies of the gods.

Then, we will visit GEBEL AL MAWTA “MOUNTAIN OF THE DEAD” where it is found on the side of the mountain tombs of the twenty-sixth dynasty, Ptolemaic and Roman. It is said that more than 700 tombs were carved from the limestone of the hill. Many of the graffiti, wall paintings and other decorations were lost, but four of them remain intact to this day, they are the tombs of Siamon, Misuisis, Niperpatot and the Crocodile.

Also, visit the CLEOPATRA BATH, the best known natural spa in the area, where there is the belief that Queen Cleopatra showered in these waters accompanied by a landscape surrounded by palm trees and sand.

Afternoon, departure in 4×4 to the GREAT SEA OF SAND, it is considered one of the largest dune fields in the world. There we can enjoy, plus the adventure of the dunes, a hot bath in the thermal waters of BIR WAHED; it is an area in the Great Sand Sea composed of three natural springs, the water flows strongly at a maximum temperature of 37º, as if it were a sauna or thermal complex. Underground wells are one of the most important places for medical tourism.

Back to the hotel for the overnight.

Breakfast and the possibility of taking a walk through the lively market of Siwa.

Transfer by road to back to Cairo.

In the morning, breakfast and transfer to visit the GREAT EGYPTIAN MUSEUM (GEM), the largest archaeological museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization. The structure will be only 2 kilometers from the three pyramids of Giza.

Then, transfer to the SALADIN CITADEL and MOHAMMED ALI MOSQUE It is known as the Alabaster Mosque. The Citadel is a peak of history, this magnificent structure has witnessed numerous historical events throughout history.

Also, we will visit COPTIC CAIRO, one of the most unique in the city. There, we will visit THE CHURCH OF SAINT SERGIUS, known as the Cave Church, where the Holy Family was hidden during its flight to Egypt.

Our last stop of the day will be to enjoy KHAN EL-KHALILI, the most famous market in Cairo. Walking through its labyrinthine streets is like visiting an authentic open-air museum. It is the perfect place to buy souvenirs and reproductions of objects from Ancient Egypt.

Also, we will visit the CALLE DE AL MOEZ, one of the most unique in the city with jewels of world Islamic architecture.

Back to the hotel and overnight.
